Training of Fabricators on Fabrication of NIFOR Small Scale Processing Equipment Market Development for Niger Delta region (MADE) – a project seeks to increase incomes and employment opportunities for 150,000 people in the Niger Delta (it is expected that half of the beneficiaries would be women) particularly for the poorest and most vulnerable. MADE uses a Making Markets Work for the Poor (or M4P) approach to diagnose the problems and inefficiencies within identified sectors and design interventions that facilitate systemic change. The project works to build local capacities and change market incentives so that the sectors better meets the long-term needs of the poor, including women across the Niger Delta region. MADE is currently implementing pilot activities for selected sectors (such as Oil Palm, Rural poultry, Aquaculture, etc.) with the purpose of supporting systemic changes in these sectors to produce pro-poor outcomes
Palm oil is an important product from the Niger Delta region (the region accounts for 50% of production) used for food and non-food purposes in Nigeria, nonetheless demand outweighs local supply. One of the major constraining factors for the shortfall in local supply is the current use of inefficient processing technologies with low extraction rates (5-10%) by small holders which lead to 25-50% loss of oil. This results in low oil output and earnings, thus leaving smallholder processors and producers with little or no incentive to increase output and yields respectively. Improved processing technologiessuch as the NIFOR Small Scale Processing Equipment (SSPE) exists and are capable of increasing oil extraction. However, these technologies are not being used by smallholders due to poor awareness, lack of capacity of local fabricators to manufacture the machines, poor marketing by fabricators of processing technologies and high up-front cost. In this regard, MADE seeks to strengthen the capacities of fabricators in manufacturing improved processing technologies that would be adapted to the needs of small holder processors and therefore requires the services of a consultant to provide training to a selected group of fabricators on how to manufacture the NIFOR Small Scale Processing Equipment (SSPE) in Akwa Ibom State.
The purpose of this assignment is to strengthen the capacities of lead fabricators to manufacture improved processing equipment and practices in Akwa Ibom. Specifically, the consultant is expected to: Customize a training package for fabricators on how to manufacture NIFOR Small Scale Processing Equipment (SSPE) that reflects the needs of the local processors Develop a simple training manual on how to manufacture NIFOR Small Scale Processing Equipment (SSPE) for the fabricators Deliver training to selected fabricators on how to manufacture NIFOR Small Scale Processing Equipment (SSPE) Oversee fabrication of selected component of NIFOR Small Scale Processing Equipment (SSPE) at selected fabricator’s workshops. Install products of training at designated mill
Conducted Skill gap seminar Trained equipment Fabricators to meet the project objectives stated above

Tunnel dryer is a muti products dryer which can be used to dry chips, grains, and vegetables like tomatoes’, onions, leaves, herbs etc. Introduction of tunnel dryer in the processing of High quality cassava flour became expedient as a means to facility large scale supply of the product in Nigeria. Federal Institute for Industrial research, Oshodi (FIIRO) lagos commissioned Muhat o this national challenge and the project was successfully executed since 2012.
Source a model tunnel dryer, acquired the dryer, use reverse technology to produce a model tunnel dryer which was installed at the institute Head quarters at Oshodi, lagos, Nigeria.
Supply of Dewatering Device (Hydraulic Press) for Cassava processing mill

Plant germinator is a shed built with raised wooden Structures and covered with roofing sheet/zinc. The germinator became necessary to serve the farmers learning centers on economic tree breeding and propagation. The facility was constructed at the ICRAF head office and Erure zonal station. Over 500 farmers have been trained ta these stations.
Designed the Germinator shed, Constructed the Germinator and handed over to the project office, Benin. Edo State
Engineer, Agronomy, Skill labours (Carpenters and Manson)
Flash dryer is being used to dry Cassava mash to produce high quality Cassava Flour (HQCF) in Nigeria. Over 100 sets of the dryers were installed across the country but function below capacity. It was discovered by team of Process Engineers that were commissioned to conduct a site Audit of the affected SMEs in 2012.The FMARD thereafter commissioned Muhat to design and install on unit of the heat exchanger at GONCHUKS cassava factory located at Mbiri, Delta State. A fuel efficient heat exchanger has since supplied and factory became a leading HQCF supplier in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
Designed, Constructed the H.E, calibrated the burner to merge with flash tube and train the operator.
